All Apple says this update contains is “bug fixes.” Which we need for sure. Let’s hope this helps out with the crashes we’re seeing.
I’m downloading the 249 MB update right now, I’ll report back here whether I see any changes or not.
Be sure to do a phone backup before you upgrade. And if you’re running a 1st Gen iPhone that’s been jailbroken and unlocked, do NOT install this update before the Dev team gives its okay. 
EDIT: Playing around with the updated phone for a few minutes… it feels much more responsive and smooth. No apps have crashed, yet (I’ve tried hopping in and out of around 10). The typing in Safari still seems sluggish. Especially when initally starting up. That’s about it. Haven’t noticed any other differences, either in menu items or functionality. Verdict: Install this update. As soon as you can. With the above caveats.
