About 24 hours after the iPhone 2.1 software update was released, and Apple had blocked jailbreaking phones via modified .ispw files in iTunes 8, the Dev Team struck again and released a tool for Jailbreaking the 2.1 firmware.

It was initially thought that the Jailbrake would require patchng iTunes, but this version of QuickPwn and the PwnageTool works without modifying anything in iTunes 8. I plan to Jailbreak my non-critical V1 iPhone today to see how it goes, and may even get brave enough to pwn my 3G.

For now there are only tools for the Mac. Windows tools should be coming soon.

aSleep and Ambiance are simply white noise generators to help you sleep or meditate. Or if you need some white noise to drown out that office hum to destressify. (Yes, I made up that word. Get over it. ;) )

aSleep has a library of about 50 sounds you can either either play endlessly or for a set time you choose. It’s not the greatest sound through the iPhone speaker, but it works for me at night. The sounds are of a decent quality though, when played through better speakers. I like the rain best. But there’s something there for every taste. And only a buck.

Ambiance is basically the same thing with a different wrapper. And a simpler, cleaner look. Finding the timer is a bit unintuitive (press the info button on the upper right of the screen), but once you figure that out you’re good to go. Also only a buck.

I have no opinion on the quality of one vs the other. They both do the job, and they’re so inexpensive you can’t go wrong with either one. Personally, I like the graphics and presentation on aSleep better.

Sweet dreams, Buttercup! Don’t let the bedbugs bite!

So you’ve moved to a new city, and need to find that hot, exotic, um… Apartment. You want a certain kind of an apartment. One with huge… Bedrooms. And a nice firm, large, spankable kitchen. And you’re into that asian motif. And you’re willing to pay what it takes.

Never fear, CraigsListMobile is here!

You can search in your area of course, and browse catagories and subcatagories. There are some filters, like only viewing ads with pictures of your intended in-call apartment.

Unfortunately, you can’t SEE those explicit apartment photos within this application. There’s a neat little button that takes you to the real ad in Safari, but as long as you have to go there anyway, why not just use the web?

And the search bar on the top, should search within the catagory/subcatagory you’ve chosen. But doesn’t. It seems to search the whole of Craig’s List.

And you can’t specify filters, like say you’re lookng for a girl apartment, but not a boy or transexual apartment. Or you want a place that provides a real GFE, and is accessible to the Y. That sort of thing.

So this app I would pronounce to be a great idea but not ready for the 3 bucks you have to pay for the priveledge of browsing all those pictureless ads.  A better idea would be for Craigslist to do a mobile online interface themselves. One with photos and stuff.

From the SimStapler© Website:

The first true office equipment simulator, SimStapler© brings all of the thrill and excitement of a “real” stapler right to your computer screen!

Untill now, the dream of stapling without a stapler remained just that, a dream. Only with the latest advances in virtual reality technologies has that dream become a true reality! Today, anyone with a multi-thousand dollar Macintosh computer, color monitor, keyboard and mouse, can enjoy the act of virtually stapling, without the expense and bother of a “real” stapler.

It has been said that it is humanity’s imagination that sets us apart from the beasts of the field. Now, your children can learn to be more human by imagining they are stapling two sheets of paper together, with SimStapler©.

It’s pretty awesome indeed. Tap the screen and you’re SimStapling away, one point for each staple. The faster the tap the faster the staple, and occasional encouragement from your boss. Check it out.
